Job Description

We are seeking reliable and experienced Team Drivers to join our transportation team. The ideal candidates will work collaboratively to ensure the safe, timely, and efficient delivery of goods across various locations. Team Drivers will share driving responsibilities and manage rest breaks in compliance with federal and state regulations.

Key Objectives

  • Ensure the safe, timely, and efficient delivery of goods through effective teamwork, adherence to regulations, and exceptional customer service.

Primary Areas of Accountability

  • Safe Driving Practices
    • Adhere to all federal and state driving regulations and company policies.
    • Maintain a clean driving record and report any incidents or violations immediately.
  • Timely Delivery
    • Ensure on-time delivery of goods to designated locations.
    • Communicate any delays or issues with dispatch and customers promptly.
  • Vehicle Maintenance
    • Conduct regular pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
    • Report any mechanical issues and coordinate necessary repairs.
  • Load Management
    • Secure loads properly to prevent shifting or damage.
    • Verify accuracy of load documentation and ensure proper handling of freight.
  • Team Coordination
    • Work effectively with co-driver to manage driving shifts and rest breaks.
    • Communicate clearly and collaborate to resolve any route or delivery challenges.
  • Customer Service
    • Interact professionally with customers during pick-up and delivery.
    • Address customer inquiries or concerns courteously and escalate as needed.
  • Compliance and Documentation
    • Maintain accurate logbooks and electronic logging device (ELD) records.
    • Ensure all necessary documentation is completed and submitted on time.
  • Safety and Security
    • Follow all safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
    • Monitor and secure cargo to prevent theft or tampering.
  • Route Planning
    • Plan and optimize routes for efficiency and fuel savings.
    • Adjust routes based on traffic, weather conditions, and delivery schedules.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Commercial Driving Regulations:
    • Thorough understanding of federal and state transportation laws and regulations.
    • Knowledge of Hours of Service (HOS) rules and Electronic Logging Device (ELD) requirements.
  • Vehicle Operation and Maintenance:
    • Familiarity with the operation of commercial trucks, including different types of transmissions and braking systems.
    • Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Cargo Handling:
    • Understanding of proper loading, securing, and unloading techniques to prevent damage and ensure safety.
    • Knowledge of weight distribution and balance for safe vehicle operation.
  • Skills:
    • Driving Skills:
      • Proficient in operating a commercial vehicle in various weather conditions and terrains.
      • Excellent defensive driving skills to ensure safety on the road.
    • Communication:
      • Effective verbal and written communication skills for interacting with dispatch, customers, and co-drivers.
      • Ability to read and interpret maps, GPS systems, and delivery instructions.
    • Time Management:
      • Strong organizational skills to manage driving schedules, rest breaks, and delivery deadlines.
      • Ability to prioritize tasks and make efficient route planning decisions.

      • Ability to quickly assess and resolve issues related to vehicle operation, route changes, and delivery challenges.

Experience

  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL):
    • Must possess a valid CDL Class A license.
    • Completion of a certified truck driving school program is preferred.

Experience:

  • Professional Driving Experience:
    • Minimum of 2 years of verifiable long-haul or regional driving experience.
    • Experience driving as part of a team is highly desirable.
  • Clean Driving Record:
    • No major violations or accidents within the last 3-5 years.
    • Demonstrates a history of safe driving practices.
  • Logistics and Route Planning:
    • Experience in planning and optimizing delivery routes.
    • Familiarity with using GPS and electronic logging devices (ELDs).
  • Customer Service:
    • Experience interacting with customers and handling delivery documentation.
    • Demonstrated ability to provide professional and courteous service.
  • Vehicle Maintenance:
    • Basic knowledge of vehicle inspections and routine maintenance.
    • Experience reporting and coordinating vehicle repairs.
